Dim your lights via Zigbee - new actuators
Now even better: we have reinvented our innovative actuators with phase cut-off and implemented your wishes. Under the name Azoula, there are two new housings plus an optional cable cover. This allows you to mount these actuators professionally in any location..
The iluminize dimming actuator Mini combines state-of-the-art technology with maximum adaptability - ideal for your smart lighting control!
See for yourself and save time and money: the iluminize dimming actuator makes your lighting smart via Zigbee, regardless of how your building is wired.
Why the dimming actuator Mini is the ideal choice:
- Especially for old building scenarios: many switch boxes in older houses do not have a neutral conductor. With the mini model, you save yourself time-consuming subsequent installations!
- Compact & powerful: Thanks to its miniature design, it even fits into tight switch boxes - invisible but efficient..
-
Top-hat rail model vs. Mini: While the top-hat rail model (for the power box) always requires a neutral conductor, the Mini scores with its flexibility exactly where it matters.
Mini for the switch box or lamp installation
With the new, minimal dimensions of 42 x 39 x 16 mm, the actuator now fits even better in the flush-mounted box and leaves you more space for cables. This makes installation even easier.
With the separately available accessories, the actuator is transformed into a touch-safe component and can therefore be used in luminaires or in furniture thanks to integrated mounting holes.
For control cabinet installation (top-hat rail)
This dimming actuator can be easily integrated into any switch cabinet thanks to its mounting and locking mechanism for the top-hat rail. The antenna is integrated into the device, making installation easier.
With the help of a top-hat rail, you can mount several actuators in a space-saving and clearly arranged way, even outside a control cabinet.
Connection with and without neutral conductor - “Mini” model
The actuator has two simple installation options - for new and old buildings:
- Standard connection with neutral conductor (N) and phase conductor (L / phase): simple integration into existing circuits.
- Innovative neutral conductor-independent option: perfect for older buildings! The actuator draws the required energy directly from the lamp current - even if there is no neutral conductor in the switch box.
Perfect for:
- Retrofitting in existing buildings
- Smarthome upgrades without expensive electrical work
-
Anyone looking for maximum freedom during installation
Connection with neutral conductor
Connection without neutral conductor
The red jumper between L and N replaces the neutral conductor in the junction box.
Connection with bypass
The bypass is optional and is only required for lamp wattages below approx. 20W It prevents the LED from afterglowing when switched off.
Connection for external buttons or switches
Both models have a connection for an external push-button or switch. This allows you to operate the light independently of the Zigbee system directly from the switch box. A conventional light switch or a changeover/cross circuit can switch the light on and off. Push-buttons that can be connected in parallel (must be of the “NO contact” type) can also be used for dimming.
The type of external switch can be changed using the Zigbee parameter. The default setting is “push-button”.
Note: this is not supported by many Zigbee systems. As a rule, the parameters can only be set by open systems. One example is the iluminize Azoula Zigbee to Matter Gateway (available soon).
The actuator sends the status change after external switching to the Zigbee central unit on request. This request can be delayed so that the switching process cannot be used as a trigger.
External push-buttons connected to the outer conductor (L) are connected in parallel to terminal A1, see wiring diagram. A light switch or a changeover/cross circuit with any number of switches can also be connected to A1.
To do this, the actuator must be configured for push-buttons or switches using Zigbee parameters.
By default, the external switch type is preset to “push-button”.
Integrated energy sensors
Integrated sensors record the actuator's power consumption and can be read out by a suitable Zigbee system.
Available are
- Current power in watts
- Current voltage
- Current current
- Cumulative output since commissioning
Depending on the selected Zigbee control center, further evaluations such as
e.g. on the time axis. This allows you to keep an eye on your energy consumption at all times.
Softstart
The actuator has a soft start and dimming function in which the light is gently raised to the target value within a defined time starting from a minimum brightness. Even when brightness changes, the light is adjusted to the new target value by soft dimming.
The time used for this can be set using the Zigbee parameter (transition time).
Minimum brightness adjustable
The minimum brightness can be set by simply pressing a button. This is useful if dimming in the room is to be limited downwards, i.e. it should not be possible to dim to zero. Due to the design of the driver, some lamps flicker above a certain dimming level. Even then, the downward limitation can be used sensibly, namely to prevent flickering.
Supports Zigbee mesh
After pairing with the Zigbee control center, the actuator becomes an active part of the mesh network. It receives signals from other participants and forwards them. This considerably extends the possible range of the network.
Tip: The mesh network cannot usually be used when pairing, as the device to be paired is not yet a known participant in the network. Therefore, please connect your devices within the reception range of your Zigbee center.
Linear dimming curve (phase cut-off)
Different light sources have different dimming curves. Light sources that are intended as retro-fit (for old rotary dimmers) often do not have a linear dimming curve and are not ideal for this actuator. Light sources that also work with a linear dimming curve are perfectly suited. Our Azoula actuator dims by phase cut-off and therefore only supports light sources that are compatible with this.
